In the book Me and My Ghoulfriends, bookstore owner LaRue Donavan has an interesting hobby – she helps spirits find their way to the other side. Of course, this hobby doesn’t come without it’s problems and LaRue often finds herself with a gaggle of spirits following her around. Luckily, the spirits aren’t the evil kind – in fact most of them are quite nice and even helpful.
Of course, her unusual hobby doesn’t lend itself to keeping boyfriends but when a hot new guy in town opens a coffee shop next door, LaRue falls for him. It seems the feeling is mutual until the not-so-nice boutique owner, Brianna, across the street gets her claws into him.
It doesn’t take long for LaRue to figure out that something isn’t right and Callahan’s affection for Brianna is a bit out of this world. Can LaRue and her ghoul friends do what it takes to save Callahan?
This is a cute and funny read. I love that ghosts follow LaRue around and Abe Lincoln is especially fun. I found myself kind of wishing that some ghosts would follow me around – they do come in handy for certain things.
I found the writing to be nice and descriptive – there were no glaring grammatical errors or mistakes that interrupted the reading. I think the author has a great sense of humor. There was a lot of “internal dialogue” like one other reviewer mentioned but I found the dialogue to be rather funny so it didn’t bother me one bit.
I’ll definitely be picking up more of Rose Pressey’s books!
